OK so I just realized I have to take a bigger bag with me on the plane, or: slightly journaly post with a hidden fun surprise

I'm finding there are more and more fairly irreplaceable things which OTHER people are depending on me to have in Paris (the Brussels train tickets, the Sorbonne pre-registration certificates, etc.) and which I can't put in my checked luggage just in case it is lost. Normally I'm pretty cavalier about stuff getting lost, plus the non-replaceable essentials for just me would be much less bulky (passport, money, ticket, journal). Alas.

Anyway this is a good time for my favorite buzzard joke...

So this buzzard is going to take a plane to New York and on the way to the airport he sees some roadkill. Feeling a bit peckish, he grabs it to snack on.

He still has it at the gate, figuring he might as well save it, everyone knows you never get enough to eat on those things.

At the plane door the flight attendant stops him, "Sir, you can't bring that on the plane."

The buzzard replies, matter-of-factly, "Why not? It's just my carrion."

Pantalondoux, fait-il froid là-bas? Est-ce que les femmes portant des foulards?

I google translated... I have no idea if this means what I think it does. haha.

too funny - that is a riot - actually fine translation, even Pantalondoux, depending on whether when we say "Sweetpants" we mean "sweet" like "sweetened, containing sugar" or "sweet" like dear "sweetie/sweetheart" - Panalondoux is closer to the latter - if we mean the former we might need something like Pantalonsucré but Pantalondoux is much more fun.

I promise posts and pix soon - this weekend I can't do any of my errands for the program/students anyway so I'll have lots of time.

oh yeah - not too cold, slightly chilly yest and today - my little fleece cardigan has been perfect.
