Paris Pix Please!

Okie dokie.... Just a taste today - I have loads more and will try to post them when I'm avoiding English so you still have a reason to visit...

Bird nest tucked into the capital of one of the columns on the petit Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel du Louvre (not the Arc de Triomphe you usually think of, the little one that used to be the entrance to the Palais des Tuileries, before it burned down.

Justin breaking his coffee cherry. He's pretty French already so this will clinch it.

The gang, in front of Notre-Dame.

Stepping in the center of the world (according to the French - and maybe me). This is "Kilomètre Zéro" - the point from which all distances from Paris are measured, in front of Notre-Dame. Mine is the most fun -and most French- shoe of course :) I also have the smallest feet of the group, kee.

Was awakened one morning last week by a chorus of male voices singing "Jerusalem," (for those of you who don't know it, you pretty much can't watch a British prep school or 30's period movie without someone singing it so you'd probably recognize it if you heard it). Looked out to see all these UK students going by in coat and tails in my street. They stopped at the corner to sing for another half hour or so and moved on to some favorite swing choir fare as well as the occasional British traditional. It might have been some graduation thing, many had paint spatters of varying colors on their coats. They were quite good and it was really fun having live music for a while - altho not, perhaps, if you aren't crazy about the male choir a capella sound. I really loved it tho.

(did not know the tuileries was gone … if i look on wiki, it's going to say it was 80 years ago, right? : )

the gardens are still there but the part of the Louvre that was the Tuileries palace burned down, yes, while Louis Napoléon was still alive which was mid or late-ish 19th century... I'm probably off on that - my date memory is terrible for all the Napoleon progeny...
