As usual Tues/Thurs bad moods are generally remedied by my 8am or 3h30 class, both of whom rock.
Just now in 8am someone made a sentence talking about buying a Christmas tree ("sapin de Noël"). Another student surprisingly asked, "Serpent de Noël?!" I wrote the correct spelling on the board to clarify but not before a bunch of us, including the one asking, started laughing, then being as how I am on permanent sleep deprivation these days and my bloodstream this morning is about 40% caffeine, I was pretty much obligated to start a Susanriff...
"Man, did you buy your Christmas snake yet?... Nope but I already got my Easter slug... And I still have last year's Valentine's newt..."
Of course it went downhill from there, like it usually does with that group... but in a good way.
Now I'm off to bury myself in the stacks at the library to grade sans interruption... (You're all on your honor not to tell any of my students.)
One more class til break. Of course break will be full of work but hopefully an attitude adjustment is on its way so I can be a little more social again, and with any luck despite all the work I'll find time to go shop for my Thanksgiving tadpole.

tks Bill for supplying the much-needed salamander mention - I actually stopped to think of one for a second but my brain got tired :) I promise I'll answer emails soon, too!!!!
Trancy even tho your paper is probably due any day, please know that even not knowing you had one coming up, my heart is always carrying the utmost confidence in your doing pretty much anything, whether in a few weeks or not. Honest. And you, too - I promise to respond to various mails and msgs soon.
