"The Valley of Elah" movie review - slight spoiler alert

I love Paul Haggis' work in general and I really liked this movie until the last 10 minutes or so. I thought it quite good on all levels (tho yes, the sexist male cops were a bit over the top) but I found that last scene too on-the-nose and very incongruous. I personally do feel things are almost as dire as Hank's gesture represented but based on his character arc I don't believe _he_ thinks that way. I wish we were shown more development to support such a huge sea change in his outlook.
