Flower Thingies or No Flower Thingies...

Hey, look at me actually leaving a comment! First, I think they are little movie reels, not flowers. Second, they only appear to me when I go to the full blog page and not when I go to the single post link you sent me in your email. Crazy. I haven't actually tried to figure it out yet, but I'll see what I can do....

(picking herself up from a dead faint at the fact that you commented :) they're from a thing called Get Glue - Ed and I figured out it's a Firefox plugin - presumably there is a way to deactivate it but I haven't googled it yet... and yes they're movie reels but much more fun to think of as flower thingies :) no?

ps thanks for finally commenting! you're obviously quite adept at it - why not keep it up?! isn't that non-lurky air refreshing??

According to the FAQ page at GetGlue, http://www.getglue.com/faq.html , the activation is automatic on some sites (and IMDB is one of them). There doesn't seem anything obvious to do in order to stop in from appearing in the browser (either Firefox or IE8). I can ask some of the savy web developers about this on Tuesday since I'm curious myself. Maybe your friends JFF or Edward will find out something about how to remove it.

This appears to be another evolution of the Social Media wave, or is it a tsunami at this point? Just think how great it would be to actually download Glue and use it - we can all know what we are looking at. I definitely want all my friends to know that I've been at Netflix browsing "Sorority Girls Gone Wild" or my boss to know when he goes to Amazon that I was browsing "Self Help for Mental Depression" and "10 Easy Steps to Keep From Going Postal Everyday". Yuppers - just what I need. Yes indeed.

Well, at least Hurricane Dan has left the area. Have a great weekend.

I thought the flowers had dissapeared but now they seem to be back. Very strange. Trying this with sevral browsers but IE seems to be the whackiest.!

BTW - hope you are feeling better.

thanks so much Bill! you are right about the tsunami! some of the social media stuff is kinda cool but still it seems a little creepy not to have more control over it... and of course this one is _relatively_ harmless but what about when it's something truly unsavory or that goes icky places when people hover over it? now I'm scaring myself... :) and yeah I'd rather no one know that I've watched "Porky's" 83 times on hulu. nyernt nyernt.
